Replied to letter from Scotland's for Peace -

"In the Scottish Labour movement I have a strong commitment to developing defence diversification.

I have  worked with the STUC and CND Scotland on the renewable energy sections of 'Cancelling Trident'.

For the Labour movement, it is very important to seperate  defence decisions, which must be made for strategic reasons, from employment issues. Transferable skills and job opportunities are there to develop within the defence industry and beyond. As an MP I would work on developing these.

In the very fast changing global security context, Parliament and Government must be robust and vigilant about keeping our longterm defence commitments under review.

If elected, one  of my top priorities will be to contribute to Britain's diplomacy and work on international weapons reduction."
