Views on nuclear weapons:

Replied to a letter from Scotland's for Peace saying that he would vote against the replacement of Trident

"We do not need nuclear weapons. Like a society full of handguns, a world with nuclear weapons risks their use either over time, by pressure of their numbers or an accident by misunderstanding. Had nuclear weapons existed since Roman Times the planet would likely have been destroyed centuries ago !"

December 2009 - Signed EDM 380 calling for the Trident Replacement programme to be cancelled.

2009- Signed EDM 660 calling for a delay in the Initial Gate of Trident Replacement.

14 March 2007 - Voted against the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident

2005/06 - Supported EDM 2703 calling for a debate before a decision on Trident Replacement and EDMs 72, 892, 1165, 1802, 1959, 1986, 1113 and 1197 also calling for a debate.
