Views on nuclear weapons:

Replied to a letter from Scotland's for Peace saying that he would vote against the replacement of Trident

"I opposed Polaris and Trident which replaced it. I have marched with anti-nuclear-weapons groups at Faslane and through my constituency. WMDs are obscene and we need the money for public services. I am a member of the Parliamentary CND group."

December 2009 - Signed EDM 380 calling for the Trident Replacement programme to be cancelled.

2009 - Signed EDM 660 calling for a delay in the Initial Gate of Trident Replacement.

14 March 2007 - voted against the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident

November 2006 - Replied to survey saying he was opposed to upgrading or replacing Trident and said "It makes no sense to spend £10bn or more to replace a weapon that no person would ever use"

June 2006 - Hosted a meeting on Trident replacement between MPs and representatives of civic Scotland following their visit to Aldermaston in June 2006

2005- Supported EDMs 72, 1113 and 1197 calling for a debate on Trident Replacement

June 2005 - Response to Scottish CND survey - "Nuclear proliferation can only end when countries like the UK stop replacing weapons of mass destruction like Trident"
